What should I keep in mind before I start using Nova?

Jun 10, 2020

Our model has 20 basic rules to reduce the social inhibitions and create dynamic communication getting to the root of the problems, pinpointing possible challenges and risks.

  • No Criticism or judgments.
  • Encourage Wild Ideas.
  • It’s not personal: If your ideas are rejected by the team, it is not personal
  • Keep the flow and ideas moving: When someone offers an idea or solution, respond with ” yes, and …”rather then “ yes, but..”
  • Provide the space that prompts the team and the customer to explore.
  • Use the 5 senses to describe challenges or ideas.
  • There are multiple ways to solve the problem. Such as, on a good game, there are multiple ways to win a game. Allowing teams to win strategies or paths provides motivation for the exploration of a variety of opportunities.
  • Decision making is driven by the Human-centered-design: the highest priority is to satisfy the customer and deliver easy to use solutions.
  • Target your team’s range of abilities, skills and uniqueness – this combination required to solve a challenge must progress incrementally.
  • No bureaucracy or title- best ideas win.
  • Manage difficulty by embracing change and failure. If nobody talks about failure, nobody is trying hard enough. Not doing anything new is not the safest choice.
  • Collaborative thinking with the team and with the customer. Team collaboration over coordination. Customer collaboration over negotiation.
  • Celebrate milestones and breakthroughs.
  • Empower others to be creative and to think “outside the box”.
  • Have a fair process and rely on transparency: involve all the parties to understand challenges and decisions.
  • Face-to-face conversations to make changes happen faster. (Sync your sessions with @Slack)
  • Be authentic: Authenticity is important for us. We believe everyone can bring important knowledge and experience to the table, we value people as they are and not as what we expect them to be. We do not want to miss the value of real collaboration.
  • Stay Passionate.
  • Constructive comments: Comments that provide information, solutions, new ideas.
  • Perspective: The human brain searches for a comfortable answer and for those solutions that are ready to understand. Analyzing information from one point of view is like giving the thinker the opportunity of going back to his/her old ideas.
  • Engage the team and other collaborators.
  • Promote creativity, born on a form of playing and a safe, free-form of communication.
  • Encourage people to tell what they think and share their knowledge and experience.
  • Provide a fair process.
  • Eliminate the habitual skeptical thinking.
  • Drive people to use their lateral and creative thinking process, etc

The benefits of the collective approach is the ability to access different perspectives, knowledge, and to connect and develop ideas even further.

Nova encourages teams:

  • To be bold.
  • To push boundaries between team members.
  • To build relationships, built on trust and commitment.
  • To acknowledge and recognize people’s presence and efforts, highlighting their best ideas.
  • To create a sense of unity, allowing everyone to have a voice, to listen and ask questions.
  • To provide an environment to inspire teams.
