Difference between participation and a comment and types of participation

Jun 10, 2020

The difference between a “participation/answer” and a “comment” is key for the correct use of Nova.

Comments can be added to promote discussion and to respond to others. The answers and individual participation is an opportunity for each team member to add valuable information that can be used to improve the process, spark an idea, and to store key information for the team to build upon.

It’s important to note that each session is different but in general, can ask for 5 types of participation:

The first is a Note – which is a general answer to a specific question being asked in the step. The second is a Board Contribution – which provides a link to the session board and asks to contribute specific information there. The third is a Role assignment – which will provide you with a role or perspective you should adhere to throughout the session. Fourth is a Vote or Poll – which is a simple voting mechanism for you to choose your favorite idea or solution. Finally to use a Card Deck – which is a helpful way to open up discussions in your team and will either be used individually or on a board depending on the step.

Whiteboard

The Board Contribution – which provides a link to a whiteboard and asks to contribute specific information there. You can add sticky notes, draw, vote ideas, use card decks, add photos, etc
