Your account and profile
Your Nova account is yours, whichever workspaces you belong to. Your profile tells your team who you are. Your preferences decide how Nova looks and when it emails you.
How do I sign in?
Go to app.novatools.org. Sign in with Google Login, or enter your email address and password and select Login.
If you signed up with Google, always sign in with Google. If you signed up with an email and password, use those.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
- On the login page, select Reset your Password.
- Enter your email address and select Send Reset Link.
- Open the email from Nova and follow the link.
- Enter a new password twice and select Reset Password.
You also use these steps to change a password you remember. Profile settings do not have a password field.
If you sign in with Google, Google manages your password.
Why do I have to confirm my email?
Nova sends a confirmation link when you sign up with an email address. Until you select that link, Nova shows Please check your email and you cannot open your workspace. Confirmation also lets Nova send you invites and notifications.
If the email does not arrive:
- Check your spam and trash folders.
- Select Resend email link.
- If the address is wrong, select change your email address and enter the right one.
What goes in my profile?
Open your profile from the account menu. The My profile tab has:
- Name, Role and About me: how your team sees you.
- Profile image: a square photo.
- Availability status: Available or Away.
- Video call link URL: your usual meeting link. New sessions you create use it.
- Appointment link: a booking link, such as Calendly or Google appointments.
- Board cursor color: your color when you work on a board with others.
How do I change my email address?
Edit Email on the My profile tab and save. Nova sends a confirmation link to the new address. Accounts that sign in with Google cannot change the email here.
Which preferences can I set?
The Preferences tab has:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Language | The language Nova uses for you: English or Spanish. Nova reloads when you change it. |
| Notifications | Choose which emails you get: the daily digest, session assignments, task and step assignments, and step completion. See Tasks, calendar and notifications. |
| Auto-assign me | Adds you to the projects, sessions and tasks you create. |
| Celebrations | Confetti and sounds when you complete work. |
| Default video call link | The meeting link new sessions start with. |
| Calendar integration | A private calendar link that shows your sessions and tasks in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. |
| Board graphics mode | How boards are drawn. Keep the default unless boards are slow on your computer. |
The workspace owner also sees Subscriptions & team, which holds billing. See Plans, billing and AI credits.
I belong to more than one workspace. How do I switch?
Select the workspace avatar at the top of the left menu, then choose a workspace. Your own workspace is labelled My workspace. Your account, profile and preferences are the same in every workspace. See Team members and roles for how to leave a workspace.
Where are the terms and privacy policy?
Read the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. They are also in the account menu. When they change, Nova asks you to review them and select Agree and continue.
How do I export my data or close my account?
Email contact@novatools.org from the address on your account. If you pay for Nova Pro, cancel your subscription first, under Subscriptions & team.
