Track progress and report

Every project has its own views for planning, following and reporting on the work. You see who is doing what, what was decided and where the time went, without asking around.

What views does a project have?

The tabs at the top of a project switch between its views.

A project in List view. The filters narrow it to one person, one role or one status.
TabUse it to
BoardSee the sessions as cards on an infinite canvas, with arrows that show the order of the work.
ListSee every session and task in rows, with assignees, dates, duration and progress.
DashboardSee progress, session and task stats, and how much of the effort is complete.
Decision logSee the decisions, wins, blockers and issues recorded in the project.
PeopleSee the project's leads and collaborators, and how each person is doing.
RitualsSee and manage the project's recurring sessions.
Files & linksFind every file uploaded in the project's sessions, and add project files and links.

How do I see who is busy this week?

The List view has a side panel for workload:

  • This week by person counts each person's sessions and tasks. A session counts for every attendee. A task is split between its assignees.
  • Waiting on people lists the work that is blocked on someone.
  • AI steps paused lists AI work that is waiting for you.
  • The workload rail shows Planned, Tracked, Over capacity and Still free, for This week or the Whole project.

The list filters choose a role (Leading, Collaborating or Any role), people (Everyone, Just me or All AI) and a status. If you add an item that your filters hide, Nova tells you: "Added. Your filters are hiding it."

How do I show where a project stands?

Set the project's status from the pill in the project header. The choices are Draft, On track, At risk, Off track, Paused and Complete. The status shows on the project everywhere it appears.

What goes into the decision log?

The Decision log keeps one record of what happened in the project. Session conclusions appear in it, and you can add your own entries with Log an update.

The decision log. Each entry has a type and a severity, and you can download the whole log as a CSV file.

Entry types are Conclusions / Decisions, Wins / Achievements, Blockers / Delays reported, Critical issues logged, Deliverables shared and Date changes. Severities are Info, Warning / Monitor and Critical.

How do I make a report for a client or my manager?

Open the project's report. It collects, in one page:

  • Progress and engagement, with engagement for team members and for collaborators.
  • Session completion and Step completion rate.
  • Project Board Highlights: the notes you marked with Highlight: Add to Project Report.
  • Session detail & highlighted notes, Session conclusions and Session resources.

Select Export Report As PDF to save or send it.

How do I track time?

Time tracking is part of Nova Pro. Open Time tracking under Resources in the left menu. It has three tabs:

  • Track: a calendar. Drag across it to add an entry. Each entry has What was done?, a project, a category and a Billable setting.
  • Report: totals by project, user, category, week or month. Filter by billable or non-billable time, and export to CSV.
  • Categories: admins set up categories, each with an Hourly rate.

You can also start a timer with Track Time on a session or Track time on a task. When you stop it, Nova adds the entry for you.

Who sees rates?

Only workspace admins see hourly rates and the total billable amount in reports.
